Our mission statement is to visit schools and introduce fun and interactive STEM-related activities to students in K-12. We not only want to help create an interesting and engaging environment, but we also want to mentor the students so that they may consider pursuing higher education in the future in STEM. I was able to lead the team through educational teaching modules that allowed them to have a better understanding of how to present in front of children. I taught them how to assemble electrical components in their lesson plans. I assisted in the design and reiteration of lesson plans that would be easily understood if given to elementary and middle school teachers. Served the team as a liaison between the University, the non-profit partner, Global TIES department and the project team. Diabeatit is a health educational video game application, a digital public health intervention designed to educate young children about diabetes and engage them in making healthier choices. As project advisor, I led the UX, Design Research, and Technology sub-teams in the development of this application. Having been on the team for over a year as a student, the transition to project advisor allowed me to address fundamental issues and create a seamless transition. Currently, Diabeatit is being developed as an Android application with three educational mini-games and is being tested with elementary school children. As more improvements are made to the product, we hope to develop this application into a more immersive health educational experience that promotes health behavior change among children.I served the team as a liaison between the University, the non-profit partner, Global TIES department and the project team. Global TIES (Teams in Engineering Service) is an innovative humanitarian engineering program of the Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego.I advised and oversaw over 60 students in team projects partnering with nonprofit community. Their goal is to create a sustainable social impact using human-centered design. Over the course of 10 weeks, students are asked to challenge themselves by using empathy to customize a solution for a non-profit that cater to unprivileged communities within San Diego and globally. I grade homework reflections, give guidance to teams, and promote interpersonal development skills such as problem resolution and time management.

• Assisting student in the academic and personal journey to understanding how underrepresented students deal and face higher level education.• Enrolled in and pass EDS 116 – Psychology of Teaching and Structures of Information for Human Learning and OASIS Mentor Practicum• Mentored 20 historically underrepresented students through one-to-one counseling sessions• Developed and facilitated educational, cultural, and social activities that encouraged students to reflect on personal development and critically discuss social justice issues for groups of up to 25+ students • Acted as a Residential Advisor for undergraduate students over a five-week period and enforced residential regulations and conduct policies during the Summer Bridge Program• Provided students with appropriate referrals to campus resource centers (e.g CAPS, SARC, etc.) • Maintained confidentiality over students’ information unless consultation with supervisor was needed

Led weekly study groups sessions for Math 10A and Chem 6A for students who received a C or lower on midterm results. Lead the groups in achieving a B+/A- average in final exam scores by the end of study group 6 week sessions. By combining weekly practice exams curated with in class materials, I was able to help students isolate concepts they struggled in to improve their overall average on weekly quizzes and final exam scores.
