I served as a 6th grade social studies teacher to students in a low-income community in Orange County Public Schools. Although my role is small in the scheme of education reform, I am part of the larger movement to provide equal access to education and educational resources to all children in this country. My students will be inspired by passionate leadership to continue working through education to reach their goals. On top of my corps member commitment in the classroom, I am also involved in leadership roles at Teach for America-Orlando. I currently serve on the Corps Member Advisory Council to assist the regional staff on making decisions regarding professional development, community involvement, and corps culture. I was hired to manage the logistics and ensure the health and safety of an entire age division of campers during the 8 weeks of overnight camp. My main responsibilities include managing and developing a 8-12 person staff of college aged counselors who plan programs and take care of the daily needs of campers, and create schedules of where my staff members and campers need to be. I also attend daily meetings with other division heads and the directors of the camp to improve the everyday functioning of the organization.

I served as an intern in the Adolescent Day Treatment Program at the Greater Binghamton Health Center. This program is geared towards adolescence with behavior concerns who are not successful in a public school setting and are instead recommended to this outpatient program. The program stresses both education and therapy. The day is split between Regents-accredited courses provided by the BOCES program and group and individual counseling provided by the NYS Office of Mental Health. I help to facilitate classroom discussion and learning as well as interact with the students during their downtime, observing and reporting the behavior they experience to my supervisor.
