I did not know anyone in North Carolina before opening this practice. However, after moving here, I soon realized there was an unfilled niche to provide legal assistance to the growing Latino community. I ordinarily had an associate and a contract attorney and as many as 7 other staff members to assist in servicing the caseload. We assisted clients with family law, criminal law, traffic tickets, simple wills and estates and ultimately, in particular in the last 10 years immigration law. As the manager/owner of the firm I was responsible for all facets of operations, from marketing, to management and training, compliance with government regulations, purchase and implementation of technology and I carried a full caseload spread out over multiple counties. The Roxboro office was a satellite office with no staff. But, the other offices were staffed with at least one non-lawyer staff member and I provided legal consultations to clients by phone and web: I was pretty busy. * I have tried just about every kind of criminal and family law case and handled them from initial intake through trial. I would estimate that I have represented over 10,000 clients with my firm. * I sold my active caseload of over 200 immigration cases which included submission of applications, I-360, I-485, I-765, N-400, to name a few, to the United States Customs and Immigration Service, (USCIS) and represented clients in removal hearings in Immigration Court and tried many applications for relief in the same.

In April 2022, I sold my active cases to this law firm; a friendly competitor. Part of that sale obliged me to continue to work on the transition of these sum 250 cases. I expect to have fulfilled this obligation by December 2023.

The Monks Law Firm, PC is a small law firm in Houston Texas that employs 3 lawyers and 10 staff. The firm is considered one of the premier traffic ticket law firms in the Gulf Coast of Texas / Houston having been established in 1987. The firm also assists clients with matters involving criminal defense, wills and estates, license revocation/restoration and personal injury. The firm, though successful, has struggled with scaling and implementation of effective business practices. The firm has a significant Latino client base. * Oversaw implementation of the firm’s new phone system, text platform, employee timekeeping system and trained staff regarding the same. Trained and assisted staff with the firm’s client management software. Coordinated with IT professionals to manage the firm’s technology. * Define and develop Standard Operating Procedures for the firm generally and for the Traffic Ticket Intake/Sales department in particular and create phone, email and text scripts/templates for that department. * Primarily responsible for intake/sales of traffic ticket cases from phone, email and text leads and to work the same from initial intake, invoicing and submission of the appropriate documents to courts and then forwarding the same to the Client Services department. * Worked with management to create policies and procedures for the Traffic Services Department and assisted in training the paralegals in that department. * Initiated and submitted to management sales reports from the client management software which had never been done before. Worked with management to develop and set pricing for traffic ticket cases and to establish weekly sales objectives. * Assisted bookkeeper with collections and billing. * Coordinated and facilitated referrals of cases from Group Legal plans. * Represented clients in Zoom hearings 20 plus. * Represented clients in court hearings, trials, including jury trials and motions when in Houston; 20 plus.

This foundation primarily served low-income Latino clients with primarily immigration cases. This included the submission of applications to USCIS and representation in removal proceedings in Immigration Court. I became the attorney for the foundation and my objective and purpose was to assist in the closing of the foundation and resolve the sum 800 active cases. This was accomplished in 20 months while I worked full-time at my own law firm.

The Rosen Law Firm exclusively handles family law cases and it does so in volume and they uniquely charge fixed fees for all services. The firm is known as a trendsetter in pricing, use of technology, its web presence and marketing. I was recruited from Houston to assist management with marketing the firm while I worked an active caseload. My tenure was short because I decided to open my own firm. * Took attorneys to lunch daily to induce them to refer clients to the firm. * Gave weekly group presentations to prospective clients. * Maintained an active caseload.

This was my first job out of law school and the firm was composed of me and my two older attorney brothers. I ultimately became the manager. During my tenure at the firm, it morphed from 3 lawyers with 2 staff members to 8 attorneys and 10 staff members. After I left the firm, it discontinued providing family law representation and ultimately scaled down to the initial two owners and changed its name and I am presently work of counsel to the firm.* Responsible for employee relations, hiring/firing/training and ensuring compliance with government regulations. * Maintained corporate records. * Responsible for vendor relations. * Oversaw monthly owner’s meetings to discuss sales and the general condition of the firm. * Managed the Family Law Department and the 2 subordinate attorneys in that department and carried a personal caseload of family law, civil, criminal, and juvenile law cases. During my tenure with the firm, I tried approximately 50 jury and 150 judge trials, and handled innumerous contested and uncontested hearings. My caseload included work in federal, state, justice of the peace and municipal and administrative courts.

The owner of these two nightclubs needed an attorney to advise and assist them with all legal issues involving the restaurant and club business which included; review of leases, engagement with regulatory bodies; ABC and law enforcement and dealing with the periodic legal problems stemming from alcohol sales to patrons in their establishments.

This business was also owned by my brothers and I and was ancillary to the volume traffic ticket practice that we had created. We taught 3 classes per week. I managed the business. * I worked with the bookkeeper to manage the finances of the business * was responsible for ensuring compliance with government regulations; ensuring certificates of completion were appropriately accounted for. * I scheduled the rotation of teachers. * I personally taught 4 hour defensive driving classes; approximately 40 classes.

I created my own DJ (disc jockey) business when I was 15 years old which I operated until I graduated from law school and passed the bar. This is how I made spending money in high school, college and law school. I would estimate to say that I did at least 200 “gigs' ' for just about every kind of event and group imaginable; including one job at a nudist colony.
