Assisted LCRA's department of System Protection in producing annual reports sent to customers in order to perform necessary calculations and make changes to critical system settings and properties.Created an excel document that detailed maximum bus fault clearance time with a single circuit breaker failure in order to predict system behavior.Created an excel document that detailed maximum expected fault current derived from a full system simulation fault duty book so that customers had knowledge of expected worst case current in advance.Wrote a C++ terminal program that sorted through the fault duty book and copied desired values into a separate text file in order to expedite the process of producing the annual maximum fault current report.

Jun 2010 - Aug 2010

Summer Intern

Hampton, Virginia, Us

Worked on the development of a ground-based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) testbed on which to conduct safe and repeatable testing of new systems and technologies for autonomous mid-flight refueling of medium-sized UAVs. Developed a wireless network for line-of-sight serial communication utilizing open-source Arduino board and Xbee shield to test ideas of mid -flight communication.Produced a cross compilation platform to generate executable code on the Gumstix hardware which was to be used as onboard Differential GPS. Used Buildroot to set up the build environment for Gumstix filesystem. Completed compilation and debugging.Setup two Gumstix platforms to communicate wirelessly to calculate DGPS. Constructed an orientation sensor using a VN-100 module, datalogger and Arduino to wirelessly measure orientation of UAV.

Jun 2009 - Aug 2009

Summer Intern

Wright-Patterson Afb, Oh, Us

My team developed a method to calibrate a steered laser interferometric system with respect to a videogrammetry system. Created a system model to determine inputs in order to steer a laser to a point on an object of interest. • Calibrated dual galvanometer system and generated data grid for use in calibration. Loaded data into PhotoModeler 6 and created a 3-D image. • Converted the XYZ coordinates of the PhotoModeler software into spherical coordinates in MATLAB. Generated a mathematical correction for the astigmatism of the grid using trigonometry. • Successfully passed data from Vicon Mx software to MATLAB using simulink blocks. Perfected the Simulink and MATLAB models and was able to track multiple objects in the capture volume in a virtual setting. • Designed, calibrated, modified MATLAB script to aim the laser and accommodate inaccuracy in the system. Utilized a MATLAB GUI to obtain more accurate calibration data. Full system accuracy tested and data and standard deviation plotted. • Co-authored paper – Calibration of Laser Steering System for Tracking Moving Objects. Paper was presented at 50th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, Palm Springs, CA, May 2009.
