I am a dedicated public health professional and a Ph.D. student in Environmental Justice at the University of New Orleans. I promote environmental equity and justice in underserved communities through research, action, and advocacy.As a Community Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator at the American Red Cross, I actively support communities in ten cities within my jurisdiction in Louisiana, focusing on building resilience to disasters, particularly in health, food security, and housing. Currently, I manage relationships with six hyper-local nonprofit organizations, with plans to expand to more soon. Through collaboration with these partners and stakeholders, I educate communities about Red Cross programs, disaster preparedness, and provide resources to support their disaster resilience efforts.Previously, I gained two years of public health experience at the Illinois Department of Public Health, where I contributed to COVID-19 mitigation, vaccine planning, emergency management, infection prevention efforts, and managed two separate million dollar federally funded projects. Additionally, I have over five years of experience as Youth Care Worker for at-risk youth and their families, employing client-centered strategies such as harm reduction and trauma-informed care.My expertise lies in environmental justice, public health, community engagement, nonprofit organizations, government relations, public health research, public health consulting, and youth development.
