Current duties: • Geotechnical analysis and design: geotechnical investigations, determination of soil modeling parameters from laboratory data, impoundments/dams, and slope stability • Seismic analysis and design of structures per ASCE 7 and AASHTO design codes• Structural analysis and design: flexible buried culverts (plastic, structural plate, and CMP, arches, pipes, box culverts, etc), vertical shafts, concrete and metal retaining walls (including tieback walls, cantilevered walls, MSE walls, sheet piles, soldier piles, and bin walls), abutments for pedestrian and vehicular bridges, solar/PV racking systems• Analysis and design of shallow foundations, deep foundations, and structural backfill, including: geogrids, relief slabs, spread footings, piles and pile groups, drilled piers, micropiles, and mat foundations• Specialized modeling and evaluations of various structures, including: finite element analysis (including in CANDE, SAP 2000, and Mecway), empirical analysis, load rating • Detailed knowledge and application of various design codes and standards, including: IBC, ASCE 7, AASHTO BDM, AASHTO LRFD, AASHTO MBE, ACI, AISC, ADM, NDS, NCSPA, and others• Hydrological analysis and design, including: drainage basins, erosion control, open channels, pipes, weirs, dams, detention systems, and other hydrological structures• Development and maintenance of specialized design and analysis tools using software, including: Python and Jupyter Notebooks, Mathcad, Excel, Excel VBA, and C++• Technical writing, and preparation of detailed, organized calculations and reports for review by persons of various levels of expertise and familiarity with engineering design• Presentations (for both training, and review of analysis and design) for clients and other engineered product design professionals• Professional relationship management, including daily, independent interactions with clients

Conducted finite-element modeling of embankments using the geotechnical modeling software package, PLAXIS. Also conducted soil sampling and triaxial shear testing and analysis of data. Participated in a joint project with the Department of Homeland Security. Played a key role in evaluating sites for a coal-ash landfill for a large energy company. Activities included: waste cell design, preparing leachate treatment options, evaluating potential environmental impacts to local water resources, and site surveying. Independently prepared project drawings, evaluated applicable regulations and assisted in cost estimating and preparing presentation materials. Our work resulted in the company choosing to locate the landfill at an alternative site due to problems uncovered in the design phase of the original site.Assisted in producing industrial environmental compliance plans. Carried out sampling and testing procedures for the presence of contaminants in various kinds of materials, including for PERC in soil, hydrocarbons and turbidity in groundwater, and air sampling for mold spores, resulting in completion of these projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.Assisted in carrying out Phase I environmental assessments for more than 25 commercial and industrial projects, including data collection and preparation of reports.Gained a wealth of experience in CAD work and the production of project documents such as proposals, figures, maps, and writing technical reports.

Independently organized, interpreted and charted gas well location and telecommunication data for use by decision makers to strategically maximize gas well production. Updated the field measurement procedures handbook used daily by natural gas measurement technicians. Cataloged and evaluated company equipment such as pressure gauges, thermometers, flow measurement devices, and moisture gauges. Participated in a field trip to observe horizontal gas well drilling, and the installation and maintenance of other gas wells.
