I worked on the probabilistic prediction of crop yield reduction due to multiple foliar diseases, as well as the probability of occurrence/severity of such diseases. Given the complexity of the problem and the sparsity of the data, I did a lot of data wrangling and had multiple conversations with plant disease experts and field biologists.

I developed a patented method to statistically downscale and blend multiple weather data sources, so that they could be useful to resolve hyperlocal variations in crop yield. I calibrated and assessed the skill of GFS and ECMWF sub-seasonal to seasonal weather forecasts across multiple countries, and provided guidance on their use for crop yield.
