I have always applied the necessary discipline, courage, and perseverance to succeed in all aspects of my career, from serving in the armed forces, collegiate football, and ultimately becoming a professional chemist. My passion and aspiration to obtain advanced degrees in organic chemistry led to me obtaining my doctoral degree in 3½ years while simultaneously working full-time as an industrial chemist and raising a family, which would not have been possible without the generous and loving support of family and mentors.I joined the Merck KGaA team in 1997 holding a B.S. degree in chemistry, focused on synthesizing air-sensitive organoboranes and transition-metal complexes. In 2003, I was promoted to scientist, making me the 2nd chemist in the history of the company to achieve with a B.S. In 2005, I obtained my Ph.D. in chemistry, giving me the necessary tools to ultimately manage a team of 20+ scientists in both Chemistry R&D and Marketing. During my tenure at Merck, I developed over 250 products for applied, industrial, pharmaceutical, government, and agricultural markets. The last 5 years entailed managing and leading strategic initiatives to deliver new technologies from academia to commercial end-users, which entailed collaborating with over 50 top-tier global academic research groups, such as notable chemists Drs. Stephen L. Buchwald (MIT), John F. Hartwig (Berkeley), H.C. Brown (Purdue), and Phil Baran (Scripps).After departing Merck in 2016, I became the founder and CEO of two fine chemical and high-tech companies focused on delivering novel products and services to primarily the pharmaceutical and hi-tech markets.
