Hired to build the IT department from the ground up following the merger of Radiology Consultants and Austin Radiological Association, hiring desktop support technicians, an NT server administrator, security administrator, IT business analyst, RIS application manager, project manager, and two developers. Managed the department budget, with the authority to control costs, examine purchases, and manage contracts.* Orchestrated and executed capital projects ranging from under $1M in a one-year period to $3M over 3 years to $2.6M in a one-year storage area network implementation.* Established and strengthened strategic partnerships with industry leaders that included Cisco Systems, Computer Associates, EMC, and Time Warner Telecom.* Led the design and launch of the company’s first website, as well as the company’s first teleradiology system encompassing a network of ISDN lines connecting 8 hospitals to over 45 physician’s homes.* Designed and secured Board approval for an OC-3c packet-over-SONET network, selecting and managing a vendor for deployment. The network encompassed 13 sites in Austin and the surrounding areas, and became the foundation for the PACS system. Created an ASP model for PACS that produces over $3M in annual revenue.* Credited with designing one of the nation’s first SANs for medical imaging.* Ensured the continuity of operations by opening a secondary data center enabling the recovery of business operations within two hours with zero data loss following an emergency.
