Reviewed and revised all pre-mobilization classes and training support packages (TSPs) to ensure compliance with evolving Army standards set forth by the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), the First U.S. Army and theater of operations requirements. Developed, managed, and lead instruction of all pre-mobilization First Aid and Combat Lifesaver (combat first responder) training given to deploying units for the state of Alabama totaling over 1,500 students. Recertified 300 Soldiers as Combat Lifesavers and trained 18 others to be instructors. Prepared and instructed Level I Anti-terrorism (Awareness) and Counter - Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) classes to more than 300 Soldiers. Directed and validated the training of over 1,500 Soldiers in Land Navigation and almost 1,000 in Uparmored Vehicle Driver Training. Drafted and presented briefings and reports to higher level commanders tracking the readiness and validation of units deploying for combat and support operations globally. I advised higher level commanders of operational changes that would increase the efficiency of current operations while reducing material allocations in the execution of the unit’s training mission. I was recognized by the Reserve Officer Association (ROA) as a national top ten finalist of over 12,000 nominations for the MG Strom Thurmond Outstanding Junior Officer Award presented in Washington, DC. -

Responsible for planning and resourcing training for supported OC/T students from Active Duty and Reserve component units that are tasked to train mobilized Soldiers to fight the Global War on Terror (GWOT). Overall responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Academy's ranges, training areas, facilities and vehicles. Responsible for ensuring the OC/T cadre are certified and properly resourced to train OC/T trainers for facilities nationwide. Drafted and managed fiscal year budgets in excess of $2 million. Oversaw major projects and acquisitions. Managed OC/T Academy staff sections. Served as the Academy Commandant in his absence. Three major accomplishments were the revision of the OC/T Academy Program of Instruction (POI), restructuring of the organizational staffing, and relocation of the training facilities. The revision of the POI using a lean six sigma process allowed the length of training students to be reduced by 30% while focusing and improving the quality of instruction. The external cost savings by the Army is approximately $700 per soldier or $3.5 million per year. The POI revision allowed for a restructuring of the cadre to be possible thus reducing staffing by 40% and saving $2.3 million per year in personnel costs. The relocation of the training site improved living conditions for the students; increased instructional quality delivered, and improved access to administrative support. The operational expenses were reduced $1.1 million per year and $678,000 per year of costs to supporting units was avoided. Served in an additional duty capacity as the 177th AR Brigade HAZMAT Officer. This position was the primary advisor to the Brigade Commander on hazardous material issues. -

Conducted dipstick urinalysis and microscopic testing. Correlated abnormal results with corresponding pathology. Suggested additional tests that could clarify or amplify diagnoses; investigated and recommended new assays and improved methods to enhance the sensitivity, specificity, and reliability of particular procedures. Volunteered train the hospital DECON Team in patient decon procedures and in the proper use of decon equipment. Instructed basic life support (BLS) to employees.

Served, as an additional duty, as the Personal Security Detachment (PSD) Commander planning, coordinating and conducting over 125 ground assault convoys throughout the MND-B Area of Operations (AO) encompassing over 6,000 square miles. Successfully coordinated and synchronized combat engineer operations with the Brigade Combat Teams (BCT’s) throughout the MND-B Area of Operations, providing full spectrum engineering operational support during Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08. The PSD team wasinstrumental in the successful execution of site reconnaissance missions resulting in the planning and execution of over 200 engineer missions valued in excess of $52 million. As the Medical Service Officer for the 1169th Engineer Group, coordinated, trained and certified over 300 soldiers as Combat Lifesavers while in theater from multiple BCT’s. Also as a medical professional, provided assistance to the Riva Ridge Troop Medical Clinic, the 61st Medical Detachment (Preventive Med) and to the Division Surgeon’s office.
