My duties as a SHE officer includes, but are not limited to the following: Ensuring that the company’s SHEQ system is implemented on each project which I am placed on, and designing control systems to monitor and measure health & safety performance and compliance as to meet the project specific requirements. Develop and implement communication programmes to comply with legal training requirements. Hazard identification, hazard & risk assessments, develop safe work procedures, carrying out of method statements and procedures with the input of the site management and subject matter experts, monitor and review of SHE documentation, task observations and self-assessment audits. Project emergency preparedness planning and implementation. Evaluation of health and safety requirements for construction projects during tender stages. Reporting to management regarding health and safety behaviours and matters through monitoring tools and technical reports in various types of meetings. Assisting with corrective action on near miss reports, environmental audits, H&S compliance audits (internal and external). Incident management and investigation. Development of health and safety plans, fall protection plans with negotiations on project requirements with the client and senior management. Training of safety cadets and assistant safety officers. Contractor compliance audits and approvals.
