Before uncovering the passion to secure a role as as a medical professional, I joined the Australian Army in February 2016. I have had the opportunity to travel to many locations around Australia and deploy three times domestically and once overseas. During this time, I met and worked with people from all walks of life, helping me develop strong social and communication skills both in a professional and personal environment. I was given the privilege of taking on the role of a 2IC during the covid-19 epidemic, which led to furthering my leadership qualities and skills involving management of small teams. I uncovered the passion for wanting to become a physiotherapist whilst doing on the job training with the Army's physical training instructors in Darwin, where I had an opportunity to help veterans who had been physically impaired during their service. I felt tremendous happiness and satisfaction from this experience, which helped me realise that I want to continue helping people in this manner within a professional role.
