I also provide service assurance and reliability for transport networks such as our Area Transport Network, Regional Transport Network and Backbone Network and work with our engineers that support those networks such as our Optical team, Edge Routing Engineers, Advanced Routing Engineers and Backbone Engineers when an issue is identified. Using my knowledge of DWDM, SONET, Ethernet, MPLS, and IP Networks, I troubleshoot both optical and RF transport issues and network routing and switching issues, and use the OSI model and knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, IGRP) to isolate the issue and engage the proper personnel for resolution of issue's. Part of my job includes using Granite, Webxing for inventory of our network. I have experience in working closely with our Engineering Department to troubleshoot and resolve critical network and system issues affecting our customers. I also installed, tested and validated all hardware and connections for proper configuration and performance, and an understanding of DC and AC power usage. As part of an on-call/standby rotation, I responded to after-hours call-out for service restoration, troubleshooting, network testing and repair of all necessary equipment that affect customers services. I have a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies and switching platforms, and work with our NOC and Engineering departments to troubleshoot critical issues, and coordination of implementing new hardware for Ethernet networks such as Juniper, Cisco, Dell, Adva.
