Ruben Maes works as a freelance journalist and moderator of conferences and debates. He is also a regular advisor for public participation projects. The topics of the debates range from cultural policy to international politics. His style can be characterised as journalistic and he encourages the active involvement of participants at conferences. In earlier years, Mr Maes worked as a strategic advisor for government campaigns, such as the one surrounding the enlargement of the European Union. He currently works extensively in the Czech Republic, where he contributes to efforts to improve the quality of public debate and the involvement of young people in Czech society.
