Op 17 september heeft het bestuur van de stichting HeArtpool mij benoemd als hun voorzitter. Ik volg daarmee Wil Kuipers op die bijna vier jaar voorzitter is geweest. Een particulier initiatief, collectief mecaenaat, voor de beeldende kunst met als trefwoorden “confrontatie” en “participatie”. De werkwijze en de activiteiten van HeArtpool mogen binnen ons land uniek genoemd worden. De eigen kracht en financiën van een actieve groep geïnteresseerden in de beeldende kunst uit de Hengelose c.q. Twentse samenleving, komt ten goede aan het algemene en openbare kunst- en cultuurklimaat in Hengelo e.o. en stimuleert in het bijzonder de beeldende kunst'.Om dit doel te bereiken organiseert HeArtpool meerdere activiteiten in en om Hengelo waarvan de belangrijkste de 'Wolvekampprijs is, sinds 1998 de tweejaarlijkse nationale schildersprijs.Ondanks dit mooie portfolio liggen er voldoende uitdagingen voor de stichting. Meer en jonge deelnemers werven. Financieel voldoende gezond blijven om onze activiteiten te kunnen blijven organiseren. Niet makkelijk in een politiek klimaat die niet bepaald kunst en cultuur-minded is. Maar juist in deze tijden is kunst belangrijk voor de maatschappij. Per 1 september mag ik aan de slag als coordinator Saxion Kunst. Als coördinator Saxion kunst zal ik vorm geven aan het besluit van het CvB voor de organisatie van een Artist in Residence, een prijs voor startende kunstenaars en zal er meer aandacht komen voor de bestaande kunstcollectie.
