Foundation, the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, and the Santa Ana Unified School District, High School Inc. students are prepared to enter college and the workforce equipped with skills that enable them to "hit the ground running" with greater confidence.The goal of the Global Business Academy (GBA) is to provide students a thorough understanding of what it is like to start a business from the ground up and what it takes to operate successfully. Through a project-based or "linked learning" approach, students explore the concepts of developing a business plan, creating a marketing plan, creating a new product or service, and marketing it to the potential buyers. As with all other High School Inc. Academies, GBA students learn critical "soft skills" and are better equipped to enter the business world and become immediately productive. These skills include public speaking, overall business etiquette, effective hand-shaking, professional eye contact, dressing for success, etc. By undergoing mock job interviews with business partners, GBA students learn how to create results-generating resumes and acquire appropriate skills to effectively interview for future career positions.Students must demonstrate their understanding of business by creating actual business enterprises - such as companies that make and sell custom T-shirts, custom buttons, and greeting cards. To help recreate a real world experience, students work side-by-side with local business partners who provide leadership and mentoring opportunities throughout the entire process.Statistics consistently confirm the effectiveness of this Academy, resulting in the selection of Valley High School as a “visiting site,” by the National Career Academy Coalition Conference Committee in 2012.
