The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Population Health Sciences Program supports the mission of UI Health by providing strategies, technical, and operational support for developing, testing, and implementing population-specific programs designed to achieve health equity. As the Financial Manager and Community Engagement Liaison, I support our team with the following:• Assist with financial oversight; strategic financial planning and reporting• Develop consulting contracts, memoranda of understanding• Manage subcontracts and billing procedures for subcontractors and community partners• Grant applications; pre-award (create budgets to adequately fund project, outline tasks for those involved and coordinate submission)• Post award grant administration• Liaison with central offices, university leadership, prime sponsors• Engage with community partners to coordinate scopes of work; provide guidance to establish procedures and systems, track participant involvement• Support community engagement events• Collaborate with study team to ensure coordination between university components• Assist with reporting requirements• Human resources liaison; assess staffing needs, develop job descriptions and methods to target best talent, assess applicants

Grants Administration/AmeriCorps Director • Principal and Co-Investigator on Center grants; identified/researched grant opportunities; prepared and collaborated on proposals.• Grant management and budget development; secured and managed an annual budget of $6-8 million.• Liaison to key internal and external departments and Center partners (departmental, local, state, national).• Direct supervision of community engagement and administrative staff, interns, and volunteers; hiring, training and development of staff.Community Affairs Specialist- Family Literacy/AmeriCorps • Developed and implemented community engagement, public service and literacy research programming.• Successfully applied for and secured grant proposals independently and in collaboration with Center staff.• Conducted site visits and interviews to ensure adherence to program protocols, policies and procedures.• Mentored over 300 participants in education and career development resulting in career opportunities for students and volunteers within the Center.• Liaison/point of contact for external and internal departments, partners/sponsors and organizations; HR liaison for department.• Oversaw AmeriCorps & Federal Work Study Program resulting in additional support for parent engagement programs; executed recruitment process: screened/interviewed 100+ applicants annually. Helped secure funding 15+ consecutive years, yielding over 319,000 service hours completed by volunteers (in-kind value of $7.3 million).Research Assistant • Research and evaluation-applied mixed research methods to collect and analyze family literacy program participant data.

Greater Chicago Area

• Facilitated the operations of Local School Councils (LSC) and Title I Parental Involvement Councils (PAC) in over 100 Chicago Public Schools (Southwest Area)• Coordinated/monitored LSC and PAC meetings daily.• Provided parents with educational and parental involvement presentations.• Provided LSC members with required training in English and Spanish; translated documents and presentations.• Investigated/responded to inquiries regarding LSC, Title I, PAC, Illinois School Code regulations & parental involvement.• Prepared monthly reports on the status of all assigned LSCs, issues addressed, and recommendations to Chief Area Officers.• Mediated conflict resolution sessions; maintained positive relationships with Chief Area Officers, school principals, and LSCs• Conducted mid-term school staff polls to fill LSC teacher vacancies.
