I have been a registered nurse since 2008, initially employed by St.Vincents Public Hospital Melbourne working in their neurosurgical ward and for the past 4 years employed at St.Vincents Private Hospital in their neurosciences department. During such time I have contributed to extending the clinical knowledge of my fellow staff, supervising and mentoring post graduate, undergraduate, graduate nurses and tertiary students while managing the many and ongoing clinical changes required for continuous improvement to the neurosciences departments fast paced environment. I have been an advocate for the vital role of ongoing education and comprehensive clinical knowledge within my nursing career, completing my Masters in Clinical Nursing at ACU, Melbourne in June 2017. As an experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager and educator, I firmly believe that undergraduate, graduate and post graduate learning can successfully change health care for the better when supported by strong, efficient systems and processes, delivered by compassionate multidisciplinary teams. My thoughtful and enthusiastic personality ensures that such is achieved for my patients and graduates whilst working collaboratively with colleagues to continuously improve the delivery of quality health care in a safe and caring environment.St Vincent’s Private Hospital has a strong mission statement with regard to helping those less fortunate reflected in my values to care and nurture others. I have volunteered with ‘Learn to Live Global”, an organisation that brings health care to suffering communities in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. I assisted with the fundraising and selling of tickets for Comedy Relief to generate financial support as well as spending four weeks in rural communities with a team of nurses, doctors and volunteers providing health to all walks of life in poor and desolated areas where health care is virtually non-existent.
