Throughout my internship with a member of parliament, I assisted with a range of communications and administrative duties in the constituency office. I was responsible for visiting constituency events, updating and maintaining databases, and helping with press release campaigns. Additionally, I created and managed databases for local activities, improving my proficiency with Excel and ensuring precision while managing substantial amounts of data. I gained knowledge about political communications and constituency support as a result of this experience.

During my time at the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), I developed a solid foundation in administrative and marketing support while working in the Employer and Partnership Team. My main responsibilities included created marketing materials and job posters, using Excel to organise and analyse data effectively. This experience honed my technical skills and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.I also contributed to key campaigns, including an internal sustainability initiative and the planning of a Disability Confident event, where I played a role in project coordination and stakeholder engagement. Managing these projects gave me valuable insights into the importance of effective communication and collaboration in achieving campaign goals.Additionally, I job-shadowed employer and disability employment advisors, which exposed me to customer service in a public sector context. I gained experience in communicating complex regulations and providing employment support, deepening my understanding of the DWP’s mission to engage and support employers and stakeholders.
