Constituent Relations & Operations Liaison for Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson

As the Voter Education and Outreach Program Technician, I work closely with key stakeholders on the Elections team to manage various short and long-term projects for the Elections Division that center around voter education and outreach. I act as the coordinator and liaison between internal and external partners, contractors, and stakeholders to facilitate collaboration, build consensus, and ensure accountability. I aim to build partnerships and trust with underrepresented voters in Multnomah County while performing Outreach activities. In addition, I provide informational and technical support for assigned staff and team members.

As a C2C intern in the elections division, I work closely with our Voter Education & Outreach team to lead the effort towards voter access, education, and community outreach. Our goal is to identify and remove barriers to voting throughout Multnomah County.

Near Peer Mentors (NPMs)* serve three essential functions in the classroom: (1) they work alongside teachers to create classroom conditions that nurture student cultural identity, cultivate a sense of belonging, and build shared responsibility for learning between teacher-student-mentor; (2) they offer a community insider perspective to teachers that build awareness and understanding of the youth experience; and (3) they build positive connections with students to reinforce engagement and increase aspiration for educational and career opportunities. NPMs build a bridge between students and teachers with the intent to ensure that all classrooms are inclusive and empowering for every student that enters the space. NPMs serve as co-educators, community experts, youth advocates, and activists for education while providing teachers with valuable information and insight about how to support student engagement, belonging, and academic achievement. They are partners withteachers and students in the classroom.

A Salt & Straw Service and Safety Agent aka Shift Lead supports shop operations & customer service. This includes:• Leadership of a professional, FUN & positive Team Member and Customer experience• Foster an environment of constant learning to continue to enhance the customer experience• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations by following and enforcing ServSafe regulations• Supports the successful completion and implementation of all safety-related policies and procedures• Attends monthly safety meetings to report on shop level safety concerns• Performs all Team Member job duties including scooping and other tasks to ensure great customer service• Report Human Resources or Customer incidents to General Manager and Assistant General Manager

Motivated & tutored multiple K-5 students through various one-on-one sessions. Co-monitored the K-1 after-school classroom with a lead teacher. Supported teachers by learning, producing, & teaching new curriculum & activities to young learners. Aided fellow social workers, interns, & teachers by spearheading any projects given to me. Shadowed administrative, social workers & learned about non-profit educational services.

Taught 131 hours of comprehensive sex education & informed consent lessons to 13 schools Lobbied for four bills in the Oregon House & Senate that would eventually create low-cost reproductive healthcare accessible to all. Collaborated with various students, social workers, policy advocates, & community members to meet with representatives & lead lobby groups. Represented PP Advocates of Oregon at 5+ community outreach events Acted as a peer resource to my classmates & guided them through public health services, low-cost birth control access, & acted as an anonymous ally & support leeway for survivors of sexual violence
