- Conducted research papers on “Personalized medicine as a new perspective of approaching medical issues,” and “Precision Pharmacometabonomics: Metabolite Profiling for Cancer Drug Response Prediction.” Designed a scientific research poster, and utilized analogies to present my work to an audience of ~100+. I was voted to win the “Best Research Poster Award.”- Attended a conference hosted by “Doctors Without Borders”, where I was able to apply my knowledge of medical ethics, physiology, and pathology in a medical debate. - Developed the ability to interpret and identify pathologies in blood tests, MRI, and X-Ray scans. - Dissected a mammalian heart, learnt how to suture, and completed first aid training.

- Witnessed cutting-edge innovations in medical technology, such as next generation sequencing, nanotechnology, bionics, and transcranial direct current stimulation. - Published my own academic research project about “The Importance of Genetic Testing for Hepatic Cancer” by learning how to use peer-reviewed research databases (such as PubMed and COSMIC) to obtain evidence-based scientific information. - Converted my academic research paper into a patient leaflet that was displayed in a metaverse gallery.- Recognized the importance of science communication through the use of analogies and real life examples that patients can easily understand.

I observed how medical professionals of all specialties must attend conferences in order to stay up to date with the latest research, treatments, and innovative technologies to maximize the beneficence of patients and contribute to the ever-changing field of medicine. Moreover, the exposure to different medical specialities was captivating as I delved into fields I had a limited knowledge of before. From elderly medicine to surgery, psychiatry to emergency medicine, and palliative care to medical ethics, each speciality has its own unique challenges and rewards, and this course highlighted the importance of choosing a path that aligns with one’s passions and skills.
