Sales Associate
After three years working in multiple Cath Kidston stores, I’ve gained a great understanding of working in retail and fundamental transferable skills. It has given me the ability to adapt to the changing pace of the retail environment, increased my confidence in teamwork and improved people skills which are key to customer service. I have also on numerous occasions stepped outside of my role to undertake supervisor responsibilities such as holding keys, visual merchandising and training new members of staff. As a sales associate my main responsibility is with the customers, to be able to assist them in the best way I can having a great knowledge of the products we sell is key. As well as product knowledge, keeping on top of the constantly changing trends is important for me to be able to predict seasonal best sellers to suit the brands customer demographic. Some of my roles and responsibilities include:- 1:1 Customer service- Stock replenishment- Receiving & unpacking delivery- Maintaining standards on the shop floor, back of house and the stock room- Outstanding product knowledge of both previous and present product and print ranges- Working to meet daily store targets- Being aware of any promotions and events taking place in store- Operating the tills & handling money- Refunds & exchanges- Sale preparation & procedures
Creative Director
Edit Conscious is a digital fashion and beauty magazine which launched in May 2017 for my final major project at Southampton Solent University. The content is inspired by seasonal trends and features only ethically sustainable and conscious fashion and beauty brands. As the consumer is becoming more aware of the impact our shopping and lifestyle habits are having on our environment, sustainability is becoming more important to many people, instead of the only importance being up to date with key trends.Edit Conscious features a blend of advertorial and editorial imagery curated by myself, with the help of a team of photographers and models. The aim is to bring readers a visually pleasing, trend-led edit of conscious fashion and beauty. Bringing a new twist on traditional publications, issue one features only advertorials instead of advertisements to keep the target reader engaged with every page. Edit conscious prides itself on being an ethically sustainable alternative to print publication, providing only a digital version ensures that there is no waste of resources in the production of the magazine. This means we can keep our retail price low and the platform up to date as most people are using technology in their day-to-day lives, and as an outlet for inspiration instead of using only tangible sources. As environmental issues can be a heavy topic to the fashion-forward millennials and young members of generation x, Edit Conscious provides a light read and visual experience into showcasing ethically conscious fashion and beauty alternatives with a nod to the seasons runways in a wearable format.Skills used & experience learnt:- Concept research & development- Layout design & Adobe InDesign- Budgetting- Project management- Casting models and sourcing photographers to collaborate with- Location hunting- Social media scheduling & growth- Trend research- In the additional roles of editor-in-chief, creative director, stylist and MUA
Buying & Sourcing Manager Of Beauty Products (Placement)
My role as the buying and sourcing manager for beauty at Re:So in was to introduce a new collection of commercial beauty products at competitive prices to sit back among the current product ranges available in store. I had to take into consideration the budget I was provided, the Re:So customer profile and their buying patterns, current trends in beauty consumerism and of course seasonal influences to maximize sale potential. My main tasks and responsibilities include:- Research and prediction into future trends in fashion, makeup, beauty and lifestyle- Sourcing new suppliers for future products- Regular communication with my line managers to present my ideas and research progress- Coming up with display solutions and ideas to present the products as visually pleasing as possible (VM props, signage etc.)- Monitoring sales and identifying best sellers- Working with other Re:So employees to help present, promote and monitor the products I have sourced, for example; visual merchandisers, sales managers, social media managers, events organisers, other buyers etc.
