Ruby's recent roles include: Doris Carter, an upscale, bourgeoisie Mother in "Trophy Wife" (2022 original feature film produced by top Washington, DC filmmaker, MegaMindsMedia which is airing on BET Cable TV Network and BET+ and TUBI.com); Diamond, a blues singer in "Bernie Problems" (2021 Independent feature on Amazon Prime); Cindy, a Cougar with a very young boyfriend in "A Stone Cold Christmas" (2018 feature film on Amazon Prime); a grandmother in a Walmart TV commercial in 2018.Prior to pursuing a TV/Film acting career in LA, she performed her own original one-woman show "Ruby Hayes sings Bessie's Blues" directed by Brian Rasmussen at the Whitefire Theater, Sherman Oaks, CA and under the direction of Phyllis Kelley at the NYX Club, Glendale, CA. While taking piano lessons at the Pasadena City College, Ruby began taking acting classes. It was the feedback that she received on her acting abilities from acting teachers and other co- actors, that she began to seriously take up professional acting in TV/Film. Soon, she was introduced to a Manager, Clearence Cheatham of Cheatham, Greene & Company. Afterwards, she signed a contract with a well known TV Commercial agent.Ruby has 25 years live stage experience as a jazz & blues singer performing in thousands of concerts and has headlined shows from East to West Coast USA including performing in the 2009 President Barack Obama Inaugural Ball at the prestigious Willard Hotel. She has entertained diverse audiences in Thailand, Japan and entertained the U.S. Troops in Puerto Rico and Honduras. Ruby sang at the Los Angeles National Cemetery for the 2018 Veteran's Memorial Day Service with Mayor Eric Garcetti, Congressman Ted Liu and many other dignitaries in attendance. Ruby landed a role as a singer on the roster of Jackie "PinkLady" Goldberg's Star Productions Company, CA. She has performed in the company's shows such as the 2015 Star Search at the Barnsdall Gallery Hollywood and 2016 Razzle Dazzle Broadway at The Whitefire Theatre, Sherman Oaks, CA.Ruby was born and raised in Plumerville, Arkansas to parents, John Robert Hayes and Bettye Jewel Hayes. After graduating from Plumerville High school, she moved to Washington, DC and continued her education and work life. While living in DC, she began to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional singer which led to her performing in different jazz & blues bands and that eventually led to her fronting her own band.
