I worked in both a large general hospital and local district hospital in the maternity wards. I also worked in community outreach projects whilst I was there with the female reproductive health team, doing outreach projects in the community. I also organised and led a talk around nutrition and hygiene in one of the local schools.

I initially worked in the renal dialysis department, supporting and interacting with a diverse range of service users. I also assisted with auditing tasks such as helping to complete patient satisfaction surveys. I then had a pastoral role working in the wellbeing hub for staff. This was a welcoming space that staff from across the hospital could come to for food, refreshments, listen to music, have a chat and somewhere to have some respite away from work. I finished my volunteering placement on the postnatal ward, shadowing a maternity care assistant and learning about optimal breastfeeding support focusing on effective positioning, latch and attachment.

I worked as a volunteer at the Baytree centre, a social inclusion charity in London. Baytree is a women's charity set up to provide holistic support through personal development activities and workshops, mentoring, coaching, as well as English classes and integration support for newly arrived migrants, refugees and women and young girls from low-income families through assisting them with their education and also skills development. I helped to lead a cookery class every Monday alongside another chef. The girls accessing the class learnt about core food hygiene, safety and preparation skills as well as different cooking techniques. They utilised the techniques learnt in class and created a range of dishes each week.
