Camp Counselor

Hunt, Texas, United States

I decided to sign up for Camp America as I wanted to work on my independence and responsibility. The camp I worked at was for girls aged 6-16, allowing me to work with multiple age groups, this was beneficial for me as it helped me get a better understanding of how different ages respond better to different methods of teaching. I was chosen for the horseback team, as this is a hobby of mine and I have enjoyed it since I was 11. During my time at camp, I was first aid and CPR trained (this will expire 2024), having this training helped me develop my responsibility and confidence as I had children relying on me. As I was head of my team, I also had to use my organisational skills and ensure that I could adapt to the situations at hand. Organisation was vital, especially when planning Gymkhanas, these were events once a week, where the children would take part in events on horses, to win points for their teams. I would have to plan these events by ensuring that I placed the right children on the right horses, ensure that it ran smoothly so we had time and often would have to be able to adapt to the children.

Barista

Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom

During my time at Starbucks, I successfully managed to with customers, creating relationships that lasted until I resigned in May. This was a customer facing role, encouraging me to develop my people skills and confidence when dealing with conflict. I also had to ensure that my multitasking skills were perfect as this skill was mandatory when working with others at Starbucks, we would often be completing hygiene checks and ensuring that all food was in date whilst also serving customers and making up to 3 drinks at a time. During my time at Starbucks, I also realised the value of teamwork, we would often have stressful situations avoided as we worked together, especially whilst there events on in the town centre, as that’s where we were based.

Bartender

Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom

In this job role, I focused on customer service and satisfaction, I provide food and beverage during shift and helped wherever I could! Despite only being in the job for 6 months, I felt as though I was a great asset to the team. Especially when it came to customer service, this is because I aimed to create a relationship with each customer I served, helping to provide a positive environment, encouraging people to come back, and wanting to spend their time with the rugby team and staff. This job provided me with difficult scenarios where I held myself with dignity and professionalism, this meant that I was trusted to help run shifts and with the jobs I was given, they were always completed to the highest of standards, as I believe that no matter where your job is and the task at hand, they should always be done to the best of your abilities. I also was trusted to help with the cashing up at the end of the night. I showed great initiative during my time here as I kept myself busy often, ensuring that during those quieter shifts I had a task in mind and a goal to complete by the end of my shift, I also helped train other members of staff, showing them how to use the till system and giving tips when conflict arose with customers. During my first few months at Stafford Rugby Club, COVID-19 protocols were still in place, therefore I am aware of the importance of thorough cleaning and how the pandemic had affected different people and respecting those who decided to wear a mask and those who did not. I served food and drink during this time as it was table service only, therefore, I have waitress training.

Usher

Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom

Working in ODEON LUXE Stafford, I strived to provide a happy journey for all customers from when they first stepped into the building, by smiling, greeting them, and asking if there was anything I could help with, this provides a positive start and ensured that all guests were comfortable and happy with their next steps. Not only did I work with the customers, but I also helped to run the shift on some days as the team leader, despite being the youngest, and still having to ask permission to serve alcohol, the other members of staff respected me as someone who provided a calm environment, often with a list of jobs, therefore, if there was ever a quiet moment, there was always a task to be done! I was also chosen on numerous occasions to help train new staff, this was a great opportunity for me to help others understand the ins and outs of the cinema and effectively do their job. Duties included:• Booked and confirmed reservations• Seated guests• Accommodated and managed large parties• Took customers' orders• Provided excellent customer service• Trained new employees• Completed stock take efficiently
