During my time at Elaine Hooley Design Ltd I have designed and managed various items of womenswear which have been selected and produced by fashions stores including; White Stuff, Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams, TKMaxx and NextMy duties and accountabilities include: • Ensuring I am a strong commercial designer in all aspects of surface design. • Creating mood/trend boards inspired by market research and the catwalk. The mood/trend boards I create are then used to direct the studio and our product developers in Hong Kong. • Designing from concept through to completion. Involving liaising and directing our product development designers in our factories in China. • Building strong relationships with studio clients, attending meetings and scheduling ‘catch-up’ calls. • Working towards client’s specifications as well as creating open-to-buy for the studio. • Hand drawing and painting designs for embroidery and print and digitally altering for fashion use, using Adobe Creative Suite. • Preparing artwork for production; picking pantone colours, thread colours and fabrics for embroidery and prints. • Organising and ensuring regular market research trips are conducted. Including; vintage shopping and visiting exhibitions. • Accountable for embroidery and embellishment development.
