Within this role, I facilitated the inclusion of patients and carers within service re-design and improvement projects. This role covered a range of responsibilities, including:- Ensuring the voices of diverse communities and those protected under the Equality Act (2010) were heard within the Trust- Supporting teams within the organisation to develop appropriate and robust feedback and engagement plans, to embed the patient and carer voice consistently throughout the organisation- Developing, managing and facilitating the Trust's Carers Forum to ensure Carers remained considered and supported at the Trust- Developing and managing feedback systems, databases and processes to ensure the organisation collected feedback from service users that could be used within service improvement projects- Line managing the Trust's Patient Equalities Officers- Drafting an Accessible Information Standard policy for the Trust.

Whilst conducting my PhD research, I undertook some teaching on both BSc and MSc Human Factors/Ergonomics programmes taught within the Loughborough Design School. I lectured on two topics:- The Built Environment: Accessibility, Inclusive Access, Inclusive Design, Accessibility Legislation- Design for Dementia: Inclusive Design, Design for DisabilityI also provided teaching support in the following research methods:- Statistics: Descriptive and Inferential statistics using IBM SPSS- Qualitative Data Analysis: QSR Nvivo 10 and Nvivo 11 tutorialsIn addition to teaching Human Factors students, I provided tutoring and contributed to assessment of students' work within the BA Industrial Design Technology and BSc Product Design programmes within the Loughborough Design School.

To develop my abilities as a researcher and to further my knowledge of design research methods, I have undertaken a Summer internship at Loughborough University as part of a research team for the LEEDR project. During this internship, I have learnt how to use Nvivo as a research analysis tool, explored the use of thematic analysis of interview transcripts and helped to develop a research methods toolbox for postgraduate students. The work done during this internship has grown my interest in the field of research and confirmed my next career step of studying for a PhD.
