President
As the President of the Bachelor and Master of Management Student Association, I organized and facilitated weekly meetings for the Executive team and spearheaded the planning and execution of events, workshops, and seminars designed to enhance the experience of program participants. I also participated in conversations with the faculty of the Sauder School of Business and acted as a liaison between the student community and staff. I represented the collective Bachelor and Master of Management Student voice, playing an active role in the improvement of the student experience.
Vice President, Events
As the Bachelor and Master of Management Student Association's Vice President, Events, I organized networking seminars for program participants to improve their communication skills and learn about career options. I methodically planned these workshops through interaction with program alumni and faculty advisors, leading forums for discussion and growth. I took the initiative to plan each aspect of these activities: coordinating invites, speaker arrival times, check-ins, speeches, giveaways, and food. I also spearheaded the hiring process of the Program Awareness and Development Committee, hiring three coordinators for the team.
Communications Coordinator
As the Bachelor and Master of Management Student Association's Communications Coordinator, I crafted succinct, informative, easy-to-understand written content in the form of emails, social media posts, and newsletters for over 800 Bachelor + Master of Management Program students. As well, I assisted in the design of aesthetic, informational social media content for quick reminders about the Student Association’s events.
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant
For three semesters of my Bachelor's degree, I was an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for two different commerce classes, COMM 196 and COMM 220. These classes are mandatory courses for the Commerce Undergraduate Degree and Bachelor and Master of Management Dual Degree Program, respectively. I was selected for this role due to the dedication I showed when taking COMM 220 myself and the quality of the coursework I submitted. In this position, I was responsible for marking key assignments for the courses in a timely manner and providing methodic, constructive feedback for students. I was also available for office hours, where I met with students to discuss their grades and the course as a whole, as well as provide additional feedback. COMM 196 and COMM 220 aid students in sharpening their writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills: integral aspects of business, academia, and life. The courses assist students in thinking strategically about communication that is needed for successful business careers, understanding the demands of communicating with diverse audiences and engaging in cross-cultural communication, creating a variety of effective business documents (memos, letters, emails, and reports), generating supporting evidence and arguments with logical and persuasive reasoning adapted for specific audience groups, and learning the fundamentals of public speaking (informative speaking, persuasive speaking, and impromptu speaking).
