As the Director of Software Engineering my responsibilities are both people focused as well as technology focused. During my time, our department has managed to form multiple cross functional teams focusing on product development in different facets, across the company. This has allowed us to provide features and services to both internal and external stakeholders at a greater velocity and increase our productivity as a department.I also work with each team to streamline department processes and procedures to ensure we are providing secure, scalable, resilient software features for our end users. Mentoring other developers, while helping to build strong team leaders and staff.On the technical side I continue to be a contributing member of the Software Engineering Team mainly providing developer support and engineering services to the team leaders and stakeholders.

As a member of the engagement development team, my responsibilities revolve around customer engagement initiatives. One of my largest accomplishments was helping to design and develop the backend capabilities for our direct and group messaging platform, serving millions of active users monthly. We utilized technologies such as TypeScript, Ruby & Firebase to achieve a scalable & highly available environment. Other responsibilities included scrum master, mentoring jr developers & various documentation tasks.

As a founder and developer, I provided daily support and development efforts to our customers which included several high complexity, high throughput labs throughout the Houston & Dallas areas. Utilizing Ruby on Rails & Google Cloud Platform, we engineered and developed a highly complex and scalable pharmacogenomics reporting & lab management platform, capable of running thousands of genetic tests daily. We used various technologies such as HL7 & SFTP coupled with Ruby & Ruby on Rails, to accomplish this mission.

As an original member of the development team, my primary focus was on the pharmacy and reporting efforts. We utilized technologies such as Ruby on Rails, RabbitMQ & AWS to develop a complex and extensive drug/gene database and reporting software. I worked daily with end users, such as pharmacists, doctors, scientists & lab professionals. Other responsibilities included mentoring jr developers, creating & implementing development processes and procedures.

As the lead developer I was responsible for all sprint planning and management of two offshore teams, located in Ukraine and India. This included mentoring jr development scrum managers and team leads along with roadmap planning with Sr leadership and key executives. During my tenure, we launch several projects in support of our mission and email delivery platforms. We focused on building bulk email delivery and hosting platforms. One of my largest accomplishments was the design and development of a custom database backup tool, that was unrivaled at the time, capable of backing up terabytes of small databases in hours.

While serving as the IT Manager I wore many hats. Not only was I in charge of everything IT, computers, software, networking, I was also responsible for developing our wireless communications technology. Utilizing various technologies such as Ruby on Rails & PHP, I designed and developed a wireless communication system for our controllers, allowing us remote monitoring capabilities in the field. We utilized small devises such as raspberry pis running docker to be able to communicate of UART busses and communicate with the network. I also led several key upgrade initiatives, such as Exchange, Great Plains and other business software.

After serving 5 years in the military, I wanted to bring some of my knowledge to the private sector. As a technical writer, I was able to document the processes and procedures, the techs were using, to produce highly complex, composite aviation components. I used text, video and images to be able to document and write step by step instructions to build various components.

As a soldier in the United States Army, I served and provided security and stability to the United States of America. My primary duties included making sure our aircraft were in a constant state of readiness to serve the people of the United States. I was awarded several medals for extraordinary service during my five years of service. I developed procedures for several repairs that are still used today for rotor blade overhaul and restoration.
