Experience teaching students across all ability groups from years 7 - 11 in a challenging urban school where a third of students come from a disadvantaged background. This experience has involved teaching both Media Studies to year 10) and Personal Development (PSHE) (to years 7-9) in addition to my English teaching responsibilities. Key accomplishments:- lead colleagues in the development of an evidence-based approach to the explicit teaching of writing skills within the year 7 English literature curriculum (developed through two action research projects)- lead on the development of resources for EAL (English as an Additional Language) students in order to facilitate their access to the English curriculum - nominated as Autism Champion in recognition of my role in differentiating and implementing teaching strategies that support the participation and learning of students with disabilities - Expert subject knowledge demonstrated through the development of a comprehensive examination revision booklet provided to all year 10 and 11 students - Ensuring best examination outcomes for year 11 (GCSE) students, all of whom met or exceeded their target grades- positive progress average in each class in both KS3 and KS4, meaning that the average student exceeded their target grade in English. - Developed an evidence-informed approach to facilitate online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in significant improvements in student engagement and successfully mitigating learning barriers in this context
