Remote, office and field work.Projects:•Mapped floodplain functionality (vegetation coverage and connectivity) to analyze progress of floodplain restoration projects•Created profiles of river bathymetry and water surface using LiDAR data to highlight geomorphic features and map relation to physical features•Compared flood protection facility locations with property ownership data to determine where the county has legal access to facilities for maintenance. •Mapped and compiled information on parcel and building locations intersecting with moderate/severe channel migration zones, FEMA 100-year floodplain, and floodway. Flagged parcels with buildings that are within a CMZ but not within the floodplain or floodway for parcel taxpayer/resident notification.•Modeled/mapped vegetation by height class, tree canopy volume, and light penetration index over a project area/river channel using R and ArcGIS. Compared data over 2 years to learn how side channel creation impacted riparian metrics. •Georeferenced historic hand drawn maps/aerial photographs and traced river active channel for different years to view how path changes over time.•Created cross-section of river and floodplain using LiDAR-derived elevation data to compare elevation graph with physical features.
