Cares for a group of approximately 12 kids ranging in age from 4-12 each week. Assists in care of horses, puppies, kittens, goats, and chickens. Conducts research under the direction of Dr. Suzanne King with the UofL School of Medicine’s Department of Otolaryngology-Head/Neck Surgery and Communicative Disorders | Section of Speech-Language Pathology. Works with Sprague-Dawley Rats in administering chemotherapy and radiation. Processes tissue samples to isolate proteins and RNA for analysis in component expression.

A 10 week paid summer internship with the Kentucky Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (now know as the Kentucky IdeA network for biomedical research excellence). I was hired as a counselor in training as consistent with age restrictions on the counselor position and held this position for the first week of camp. As a CIT, I was not responsible for a group of kids or assigned to a static station and was instead available to help busy stations, cover for absent counselors, check-in late campers, and helping with food preparation and distribution. Beginning in April, I worked birthday parties, school field trips, and other private events held at the camp.
