WorkNet is a nonprofit providing reentry services for people transitioning from prison to the community. The WorkNet Correctional Arts ReEntry (CARE) Program is an innovative social enterprise Inmate Art program. Accomplishments include: A one year grant for a public-private partnership with the Hawaii Correctional Industries (HCI) allowing us to sell artistic work produced by inmates. Funding allowed us to start a pilot project with women inmates at the Women's prison. You can see some of the art products they have been making here: https://www.worknetinc.org/buy-inmate-art Inmates enrolled in the CARE program benefit from being able to earn a better wage from the sale of their art or craft products compared to what they earn on a prison work line. This provides them the ability to save money for their transition to the community. If they are interested in pursuing their artistic career, we teach them business and marketing skills so they can sell and market their artwork once they are out in the community. In 2019, we were selected to participate in the Purple Prize social impact accelerator to prototype ideas that will enhance the development of the project. LifeStiles® is a social enterprise project that aligns my passion for helping people match their interests and motivation with job skills training and employment opportunities. My partner and I designed the LifeStiles® Vocational and Individual Development Plan Profile, an online profile that is specifically designed for clients that are transitioning from prison to the community. Each client receives an Individual Development Plan that is used for transition case management. The profile is currently being beta tested in the Hawaii Public Safety corrections system with work furlough inmates.As the LifeStiles® product manager, my responsibilities included managing a remote developer to create the web based version of the profile, agile project management, product development, QA testing, UI design, and translating user requirements into product features. Through contracts with Hawaii Public Safety and a public-private partnership with Hawaii Correctional Industries, we are field testing the online version and continue to evolve the product as we get more user feedback. JamBios is an early stage tech startup located in Honolulu, HI. We launched a collaborative writing platform that allows aspiring nonfiction writers to create an online memoir and share it with their friends and family.
