I've always been fascinated by human learning and growth. What enables some people to continue to learn and grow through time and why do others get stuck? How can we support each other's growth and development to make the most of the time we have? My desire to understand people better led me to graduate studies in psychology where I focused on positive psychology, rule learning, and working memory in Western's Cognition and Perception program. Since joining SIGMA's consulting and research and development team I've been able to combine my love for scientific research with sharing its practical applications, focusing on enhancing leadership performance, emotional intelligence, and well-being through executive coaching and group workshops. In 2015 I was awarded a two-year postdoctoral scholarship from the Ontario Centres of Excellence to develop a mindfulness-based leader development program. This program is the subject of a research study we conducted with the Brain and Mind Institute at Western University and a Fortune 100 company. In addition to sharing mindfulness with many people this research resulted in two peer-reviewed publications in Frontiers (2020), and Mindfulness (2021).
