When I was a young lawyer a mentor said to me “you don’t sweat the small stuff – like narrow points of law. But you have a gift for seeing a better version of the future and building enthusiasm in others to follow you there”. That about sums it up.I had a terrific legal career at top tier firms, which taught me the value of intellectual rigor and hard work. My first company, Practice Technologies, was started to solve some problems I saw as a lawyer. We raised several rounds of venture capital and grew to over 100 people. We achieved a series of “firsts” and were named to the Inc. 5000. Plus we were the coolest company in the industry prior to our acquisition. I subsequently founded a fin tech company focused on the youth market and launched the web division of an existing retailer. The latest company I co-founded and led as CEO is focused on advanced tech and AI in the Legal Sector and was acquired by Renovus Capital in 2023.I played lots of sports growing up. Still do. But my favorite was football, which taught me how to push past my limits, support the team and get up, pull the mud out of my face-mask and push on when knocked down. My proudest moment was winning the Coaches Award in high school, for achievement, effort and leadership. I’ve been working to live up to that honor ever since.I’ve been interviewed on CNN, FoxTV, ABC News, WJS.com, Venture Beat and delivered a TEDx talk. I’ve taught classes at the Marshall School of Business at USC and published an Amazon Best Seller on breakout strategies and currently teach in an MBA program.
