He combined his childhood passion for drawing comic books and computers leading to studying Electronics Engineering and Software Engineering at the universities of Brussels and Antwerp, Belgium.Right after finishing his studies he started his professional career by starting his own 3D animation production company Imagination In Motion in 1990. Being one of the pioneers in 3D computer animation at that time, the company started by developing its proprietary 3D animation software for the simple reason there was close to no commercial software available. This became the defining career-path: combining research and development of CGI technology and 3D animation production.The studio became fast one of the largest in Europe and working for an international clientele including companies such as DreamWorks SKG, The Walt Disney Company, 20th Century Fox, Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola company, etc. During the 1990’s all the 3D animation was produced using the in-house developed software PerfectScene, which gave the studio a leading edge in the development of 3D character animation.In 1998 Rudy initiated 2 technical developments: the development of the first 3D animation browser plugin (RealActor) and the first real-time character animation software called VIPresenter (Virtual Interactive Presenter). The VIPresenter was first used at events for Coca-Cola.Because of the explosion in 3D animation studios in the late 90’s and 2000’s, the studio began to focus more on the development of its real-time animation software. Seeing the increase in computing power combined with the exponential growth of computing power in graphics cards, it was obvious to Rudy that the future of animation production lay in using real-time animation techniques.As of 2006 Rudy and his team started to develop a next generation of tools for animating characters for television, events and eventually the animation production pipeline itself. The new tool became CRE8ION, a next generation software that enables broadcasters to integrate live animated characters in TV shows, event organizers to have virtual hosts and animation producers to more efficiently produce animation. The software has been licensed to a global clientele.Now the full focus is on the groundbreaking Swoove Studio app and platform.
