Geospatial AnalystSpace4Good Jul 2021 - Sep 2021The Hague, South Holland, NetherlandsPerformed research on relevant methods for tree-crown extractions using remote sensing and geospatial techniques, analyzed and presented top-three widely used methods by researchers and professionals.Developed annotated datasets used for tree-crown extraction/ detection task.Developed a workflow for individual tree-top identification and extraction of their corresponding crowns from Aerial Imageries and surface models (DTM, DEM) using the Deep Forest Framework built on the back of the one-stage object detector—RetinaNet. Model accuracy reached an IoU Score ~93%, Recall ~91%, Precision~71%. This was integrated into the ReForester platform for Biomass estimation in Borneo, Indonesia, which received the XPRIZE Rain Forest Award.Provided technical project documentation and experiment reproducibility workflow for the remote sensing expertsTools and platforms used: ForestTools, DeepForest, Scikit-image, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Fiona, and QGIS.
