• Collecting and processing soil samples, whole plant samples, and fruit samples, and using a spectrophotometer to analyze the amount of nitrate and ammonium found in the samples
• Focusing on improving nitrogen use efficiency for growers around California by analyzing nitrogen uptake of their crops, in order to set more efficient fertilization plans
• Researching the nitrogen mineralization rates of different organic amendments for heirloom tomatoes

Davis, CA

• Carried out quality analysis of melons; detecting soluble solids, acidity, texture and respiration rates
• Used a Gas Chromatography machine to measure respiration rates and a Felix Ethylene Analyzer to research the ripening curves of different varieties of melons in order to improve shelf-life and food quality
• Used a TA.XTPlus machine to run textural analysis on different melon varieties to help breeders decide which variety is the most marketable
• Organized a textural analysis sensory panel of 8 people to compare how accurate the results of TA.XTPlus are, to see if the machine can replace a sensory panel

• Harvested produce for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and UC Dining Service in order to improve availability of local agricultural in Davis
• Maintained the green house; sowed seeds, watered plants
• Transplanted with a tractor and maintained plants on the field
• Applied and removed row covers and stakes for leafy vegetables and tomatoes respectively
• Fertilized and set up drip lines for the crops
• Collaborated with fellow student farmers in order to complete daily tasks in a timely and effective manner

Conducting lab research for field trials of effectiveness of a biocontrol (Aflasafe) against Aspergillus flavus fungus.Making different medias and water-saving fungi spores in order to store them for longer periods of time.
