July 2021 Update: Today is the day I officially change my title from Owner & CEO to simply Founder. It seems like only yesterday and also a lifetime ago that I set out to create a children's apparel business. Since then, I have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams with a talented, loyal, hard-working team and the most incredible customers a girl could ever wish for. Funny enough, the one word that has become the foundation of RuffleButts over the years is the same word I would use to sum up this almost 15-year journey for me, GRATITUDE. My story is not terribly different from other entrepreneurs. What started as a dream, led to a lightbulb moment, and began what is now a wild adventure. I founded RuffleButts.com at the age of 27 (pre-children) with the goal of creating a cute and modern version of the ruffled diaper cover. That goal quickly morphed into sharing joy through ruffles, and lots of them! RuffleButts quickly grew, fueled by the support and enthusiasm of our customers. Joined full-time by my husband Mark, in early 2010, our vision expanded with the debut of Rugged Butts; adding boys clothing to the expanding company. I built the company on a dream and ambition, and was joined over the years by an amazing team, helping to make that dream a reality. We worked hard to be different, to operate by the Golden Rule. The customer experience was tremendously important and our gratitude a foundational part of the company culture.Guided by my faith, I created the business accordingly, following the golden rule: “do unto others as you would have done onto you”. That faith was instrumental in starting the business and my continued strength as I led it. You may have spotted our family on TV, as we were fortunate to land on Shark Tank in 2013. That was an adventure in itself! As we move onto our next chapter, we are beyond grateful for all the love and support we received over the years.
