About Ruggero Lancia
I am a Chartered Architect (RIAS & RIBA chartered member) with experience in both residential and commercial architecture. I have specialised in Care Homes but my experience also includes mainstream residential typologies and retail buildings. I have also led re-development projects in local conservation areas, such as Park Circus Place and Merchant City in Glasgow.I am also an expert in standards and best practices for BIM implementation. I am especially proficient in REVIT.In my workflow I am able to include a variety of advanced digital processes and tools, including remote sensing techniques (photogrammetry and laser scanning) and procedural/parametric routines (especially with Grasshopper).I also covered academic positions in the fields of Information Studies, Architecture Theory and Museum Studies. My research focused on the curation of CAD/CAM records along their entire lifecycle, from creation to long term retention, in different communities of practices related to Built Environment and especially in Architecture practices. I am an expert in Digital Curation and Information Management of Built Environment related data.I was the Principal Investigator of the DEDICATE (DEsign's Digital Curation for ArchiTecture) project funded by the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council), that researched a sustainable framework for the curation of Built Environment related data.With Dr Ian Anderson (HATII) I have been investigating the problems posed by curating built environment data in architectural practices in the DIDECU project, funded through the First Step Award. I was a research associate for HATII's work on the EU FP7 funded 3D-COFORM project.
