Profile bio

About Ruh Ullah

In late 2018, I relocated to Australia after two years as Senior Researcher at National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. After completing my Masters in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (Thailand, 2006), I was Project Director for water purification at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Pakistan (2006-2009). I worked at Curtin University on nano-materials synthesis and characterization for hydrogen storage, water and air purification (2009-2013).After completion of my PhD in 2012 from Curtin University, I then served as a Senior Laboratory Technician/Postdoc Fellow at Qatar University for 4 years (2013-2017) on gas separation and storage. In 2015, I researched in the field of CO2 adsorption and separation through an Endeavor Research Fellowship provided by the Australian Government. Based on this innovative research in the field of Nanotechnology and Environmental remediation, I was awarded a FINALIST certificate from CSIRO Australia. Prior to joining NIMS in Japan , I was working on a collaborative project between Qatar University and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA, on water desalination using distillation (DCMD) technology. My research experience lies in nano-materials synthesis, characterization and applications, for photocatalysis, water and air purification and separation technology. I am also expert in the separation and storage of CO2 and other gases (using both bench scale and large scale) using nano-materials and membrane technology.Publications and ConferencesOne of my articles on methane storage has been very recently published in high impact factor journal “Nature Energy”, (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41560-019-0427-x. To date, I have 32 journal publications and have presented at more than 30 international conferences. There have been almost 2000 citations of my work - which attests to the quality and relevance of my research.

Listed skills include Chromatography, Laboratory, Spectroscopy, University Teaching, and 31 others.
