Hallo! My name is Rui Veloso and I am natural of the city of Braga. Since I was very young I always had an attraction for science, having participated in science fairs, contests, and extracurricular activities, all these things considered I found myself enlisting in Sciences and Technologies in the high school and later in the Bachelor of Environmental Sciences. Currently I’m getting my master’s degree in Geosciences in the branch of External Dynamics and Global Change. The interdisciplinarity has always intrigued me and at the same time the love and joy for science and the environment have motivated my ingress in Environmental Sciences, where not only I was able to answer the interdisciplinarity but also was able to find a broad field of study in continuous growth. My passion for the environment and technology have been the main factor to ingress and evolve towards a more human directed scientific application field, motivating my studies in Environmental Geology, particularly the microplastics distribution, prevalence and overall dynamics in rivers, estuaries and beaches. I'm also very intrigued by mapping, programming, and bioengineering to reach more sustainable and "greener" cities. Olá! O meu nome é Rui Veloso e sou natural da cidade de Braga. Desde muito jovem sempre tive uma grande atração pela ciência, tendo participado em feiras de ciência, concursos e atividades extracurriculares. Face a este desenvolvimento, acabei por ingressar em Ciências e Tecnologias no ensino secundário e posteriormente em Ciências do Ambiente. Atualmente, estou a realizar mestrado em Geociências no ramo de Dinâmica Externa e Mudanças Globais. A interdisciplinaridade sempre me intrigou e ao mesmo tempo o amor e a alegria pela ciência e pelo meio ambiente motivaram o meu ingresso nas Ciências do Ambiente, onde não só pude responder à interdisciplinaridade como também encontrei um amplo campo de estudo em crescimento. A minha paixão pelo ambiente e pela tecnologia, têm sido o principal fator de ingresso e evolução para um campo de aplicação científica mais humano, motivando os meus estudos em Geologia Ambiental, particularmente a distribuição, prevalência e dinâmica global de microplásticos em rios, estuários e praias. Também sou muito interessado por mapeamento, programação e bioengenharia para alcançar cidades mais sustentáveis ​​e 'verdes'.
