Rui M. B. Carrilho obtained his Licenciate degree in Chemistry of Biological Processes, at the University of Coimbra in 2006, he received his Master diploma in Advanced Chemistry in 2008, by the same University, and concluded his PhD in Organic Chemistry in 2014, focused on the synthesis of phosphorus ligands and development of organometallic complexes for homogeneous catalysis, in University of Coimbra and University of Pécs (Hungary). In 2014, he worked as a post-doc researcher in Luzitin S.A., a pharmaceutical spin-off, dedicated to the development of new drugs for use in diagnosis (PDD) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer.From 2015 to 2018, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in University of Coimbra and University Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain), on the study of catalytic CO2 cycloaddition to epoxides and ring opening copolymerization reactions, for synthesis of cyclic carbonates and bio-degradable polycarbonates.In January 2019, Rui M. B. Carrilho became an Assistant Researcher at the Chemistry Department of Coimbra University, where he works on the development of sustainable catalytic processes for carbon dioxide transformations, aiming at the synthesis of organic compounds. He is currently assistant professor of Organic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry and Catalysis Courses.Rui M. B. Carrilho is author of 25 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, 8 book chapters, and more than 50 communications (oral and poster) in education, scientific meetings and conferences.
