Rui Baeta, baritone, did his musical and vocal studies at the Algarve Regional Conservatory, at the National Conservatory in Lisbon, has a degree in Singing from the Lisbon School of Music and obtained a Specialist Title from the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. He developed his artistic improvement in Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria, Fondation Hindemith, Switzerland and Academie Francis Poulenc, France. With the pianist Paulo Pacheco he won the First Prize of Young Musicians - Chamber Music Superior Level. At the age of 18 he joined the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Choir where he stayed for about 10 years and started his career as a solo singer. Currently, he interprets a vast repertoire in opera, oratorio and recital, developing his artistic career in the main halls of the country and abroad, with orchestras such as Algarve Orchestra, North Classic Orchestra, Beiras Orchestra, Oporto National Orchestra, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata de Lyon, Camerata Concertgebouw, Metropolitana, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, among others.From his extensive and varied repertoire of opera and oratorio presented to the public, he highlights his interpretation in: The Magic Flute, Papageno, Mozart; La Bohéme, Marcelo, Puccini; Silvio, I Pagliacci, Leoncavallo; Carmina Burana, Orff; Madama Butterfly, Mr. Sharpless, Puccini; Idomeneo, La Voce, Mozart; Les Contes D’Hoffmann, Schlemihl, Offenbach; Hänsel und Gretel, Vater, Humperdinck; Ein Deutsches Requiem, Brahms; Petite Messe Solennelle, Rossini; Requiem, Fauré ; Requiem, Mozart; Weinachts Oratorium and Ich habe Genug, Bach, Les Nuits D’Été, Berlioz and Des Knaben Wunderhorn and Eines Fahrenden Gesellen, Mahler.Besides several recordings for the Portuguese Radio Television and its various channels and transmissions, he recorded on CD Missa Grande by Marcos de Portugal and the operas: As Variedades de Proteu by António Teixeira, O Regresso da Norma, O Corvo, A Tabacaria, As Flores do Mal by Luís Soldado and O Manifesto Nada, by António de Sousa Dias.He has been a juror on the TV show All Together Now and Operação Triunfo, and vocal coach in Factor X and Ídolos, for the movies Variações and Fada do Lar, for TVI, CNN Portugal and CMTV journalists, at the University of Évora, Lisbon School of Drama and Film, Companhia Olga Roriz Academy and D. Maria II National Theatre. In 2019 he received the Gold Medal of the City of Faro, and founded the Orquestra Algarve Community Choir, of which he is the Musical Director, and integrates the artistic direction of the Orchestra do Algarve.
