 Primary research focuses in development of an adenylated cyclase toxin-deleted Bordetella pertussis for evaluation of its preclinical effects on B. pertussis-induced protection and the exploration of the cross- protective effects of live attenuated Bordetella pertussis in influenza and allergy mouse models in collaboration with Institute Pasteur of Lille.  Obtained the Merlion Program Grant, a joint French-Singaporean collaboration to fund travels between the 2 institutes for facilitation of data sharing.  Assisted in the writing of grant proposals wherein a start-up grant was obtained for the project on development of an adenylated cyclase toxin-deleted Bordetella pertussis for evaluation of its effects on B. pertussis-induced protection under the sponsorship of National Medical Research Council (NMRC). Project life cycle management of the awarded grant including preparation of annual reports documenting the budgeting, milestones, key findings and future directions to NMRC.  Training of 2 graduate students from collaborating labs in Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), ASTAR and Department of Physiology, NUS, on animal work and genetic manipulation of Bordetella pertussis as a vaccine delivery system. Experience in animal husbandry, drafting of NUS Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols and maintenance of annual IACUC reports in the lab. Drafting of SOPs and risk assessments for handling BSL2 bacterial pathogens and tissue organs extracted from infected animals in the programme.
