Computer contest club was started to bring together the bright minds of John Fraser to compete in regional, provincial, and national level programming competitions. Students were exposed to a variety of algorithmic and ad-hoc problem solving techniques including recursion, breadth-first search, iterative deepening, dynamic programming, dijkstra's/warshall's algorithms, memoization, and heuristics.Problems ranged widely from optimization, string manipulation, to elementary data mining. Typical competitions feature 4-5 problems to be solved in 3 hours given to a team of 2-4 students or individuals.Roles:• Spearheaded John Fraser's entrance into computer science competitions• Prepared practice material and organized mock competitions• Led ECOO competition team to provincials in grade 11• Tripled participation in grade 12, and won an invitation to a national competition hosted by Waterloo, the Senior Canadian Computing Competition, where I obtained a Bronze Medal.
