Guide overall direction of News Department, determine daily coverage and content. Hire, mentor, and evaluate staff of 16, set budgets and operate news department within them, determine key capital items. Devise and implement strategic plan for overall station as well as news department. Represent station in professional manner at community service groups, local universities, and law enforcement agencies. Address concerns from viewers in general public as well as news makers. Maintain contact and relationships with leaders in area government and business communities. Attend Department Head meetings, Safety Committee meetings, compile quarterly corporate reports. Take key role in development of station digital initiatives, such as station website, mobile websites, and mobile apps. Fill in anchor or reporter as needed.
