Support human rights defenders in their engagement with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and undertake research, writing and advocacy in relation to ISHR priorities at the ACHPR;· Support human rights defenders from Africa in their engagement with the UN human rights mechanisms (including the Human Rights Council, Special Procedures, UPR and treaty bodies), and conduct lobbying and advocacy with those mechanisms in relation to the situation, priorities and needs of human rights defenders in Africa;· Conduct research, advocacy, monitoring and reporting on the enactment and operation of human rights defender protection laws and mechanisms in Africa;· Monitor and advocate in relation to the positions of African States on key human rights issues within the UN, the ACHPR and other relevant multilateral fora;· Contribute to ISHR publications and information resources;· Assist to obtain grants and funds for ISHR’s activities in and in relation to Africa;· Continue to develop strong relationships and partnerships with human rights defenders, civil society organisations, national human rights institutions, government officials, ACHPR Commissioners, and donors and prospective donors from across the continent
