Part of 21c Museum Hotels since its founding, Craig guided the strategic direction of the company and led the growth, financing and development of the company from one hotel to nine open hotels and two under development at the time of his departure in July, 2020. 21c Museum Hotels is an award-winning hospitality brand, management and development company which employed more than 1,000 teammates (pre-COVID) and curated more than 100 contemporary art exhibitions throughout its 77,000 square feet of museum space. All 21c Museum Hotels open at the time were featured on the 2019 Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards lists of top hotels.In 2018, Craig led the company through a sale to Accor, one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, with 4,900 hotels and 39 brands, including Fairmont, Raffles and Sofitel. Accor is publicly traded and based in Paris, France. Following the sale, Craig oversaw the integration of 21c into Accor and served as a member of Accor’s North & Central America CODIR (Executive Committee).In 2015, Craig led a process to find an institutional investment partner, which culminated in the creation of a dedicated 21c investment fund raised and managed by Junius Real Estate Partners, a specialized real estate investment unit of the J.P. Morgan Private Bank.Prior to serving as President & CEO, Craig served as President from 2012 – 2017 and Vice Chairman & General Counsel from 2007 – 2012.

Appointed by the Governor of Kentucky, Craig served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Louisville from 2014 – 2017. During his time on the Board, Craig was a leading advocate for improved governance and transparency. Craig was elected Vice-Chair of the Board shortly before his term prematurely ended by a change in state law.

In addition to serving as a corporate attorney, Craig created and managed an ancillary business dedicated to securing and deploying federal New Markets Tax Credits, which helped clients raise and invest hundreds of millions of dollars in low-income communities across the United States. Craig was instrumental in assisting Louisville Community Development Bank secure the first local New Markets Tax Credit allocation. This $62.5 million allocation helped make the following projects a reality, among others: Muhammad Ali Center, First Virginia Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, and Home of the Innocents Children Village.Craig also served as the initial manager of Commonwealth Seed Capital LLC, an investment fund created by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to invest in early-stage Kentucky businesses.
