Academic Journey & Research Aspirations :My journey in biology began during my high school years at Municipal High School in Burdwan. I initially aimed to pursue an MBBS, but after not passing the NEET exam, I shifted my focus towards applied biology. This led me to complete a B.Sc. in Biotechnology, where I developed a deep interest in applied sciences. With a curiosity-driven approach, I found biotechnology more aligned with my passion for real-world biological applications than core theoretical biology.After my B.Sc., I was determined to continue my studies in medical biotechnology and succeeded in achieving the 4th rank in the JEMAS PG entrance examination in West Bengal. This achievement led me to the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine, where I am currently pursuing my Master's degree. This institution, established in 1914, has a legacy of pioneering research in tropical diseases and has fostered some of India’s most distinguished medical scientists, such as Sir Ram Nath Chopra, a pharmacology pioneer who advocated for drug safety in India, and Dr. U.N. Brahmachari, celebrated for his work on kala-azar. The School’s ongoing projects include advanced research in areas such as HIV, hepatitis, and stem cell therapy, inspiring me to explore biotechnology’s applications in disease treatment.Values & Future Goals :As a person, I’m driven by empathy, humility, and a desire to contribute to the academic community. I approach challenges with emotional intelligence, always aiming to understand others and apologize if I inadvertently hurt someone. My current goal is to pursue a PhD and I am passionate about staying in academia, not only to deepen my expertise but also to engage in teaching and mentorship, nurturing the next generation of researchers.I believe that my journey, combined with the invaluable resources and inspiring legacy of the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine, is laying a solid foundation for my future in research. As I look ahead, I am excited to push the boundaries of medical biotechnology and remain within academia, contributing to both scientific knowledge and the well-being of others.
